OPIS 

Film, który uczynił z Humphreya Bogarta supergwiazdę, a równocześnie obraz, który zapoczątkował styl noir, zawierający ważne cechy tego gatunku. Jest niejednoznaczny moralnie bohater, który znajduje w sobie siłę, żeby postąpić właściwie. Pojawia się femme fatale, która wplątuje bohatera w intrygę, w wyniku której znajduje się na celowniku zarówno mafii, jak i policji. Tłem jest pokryte mrokiem miasto, w którym bohater jest zdany sam na siebie. Wykreowany przez Bogarta Sam Spade, prywatny detektyw w prochowcu z nieodłącznym papierosem w ustach, wynajęty do odnalezienia siostry, tak naprawdę odkrywa tajemnicę XVI-wiecznej bezcennej statuetki i staje się pierwowzorem dla wielu późniejszych postaci tego typu.

REŻYSER

John Huston (1906-1987)

Amerykański reżyser, scenarzysta i aktor. Syn reporterki Rhei Gore i aktora Walter Hustona; ojciec Anjeliki Huston, nagrodzonej Oskarem za rolę w „Honorze Prizzich” (1985). Kariera zawodowa Johna Hustona trwała nieprzerwanie ponad pięćdziesiąt lat, był dziesięciokrotnie nominowany do Oskara, zmarł tak, jak żył — podczas pracy na planie. Wyreżyserowany przez niego film „Skłóceni z życiem” (1961) był ostatnim ukończonym przez Marylin Monroe. „Sokół maltański” (1941) jest uważany zarówno przez krytyków za najlepszy film detektywistyczny, jaki kiedykolwiek powstał.

DESCRIPTION

The film that made Humphrey Bogart a superstar and, at the same time, the picture that launched the noir genre. There is a morally ambiguous protagonist who finds the strength within himself to do the right thing. There is the Femme fatale who appears, who embroils the protagonist in an intrigue that results in him being targeted by both the Mafia and the police. The backdrop is a city covered in darkness, where the protagonist is on his own. Bogart's Sam Spade, a private detective in a trench coat with an inseparable cigarette in his mouth, hired to find his sister, actually discovers the mystery of a 16th-century priceless statuette, and becomes the prototype for many later characters of this type.

DIRECTOR

John Huston (1906-1987)

An American director, screenwriter and actor. Son of reporter Rhea Gore and actor Walter Huston; father of Anjelica Huston, who won an Oscar for her role in "Prizzi’s Honor" (1985). John Huston's professional career spanned more than fifty years, he was nominated for an Oscar ten times, and he died as he lived — while working on set. The film he directed, "Misfits" (1961), was the last film completed by Marilyn Monroe. "The Maltese Falcon" (1941) is considered by critics and audiences alike to be the best detective film ever made.
