OPIS

Irlandzki inżynier, Brian Sweeney Fitzgerald, zwany przez miejscowych Fitzcarraldo, jest owładnięty marzeniem zbudowania opery w sercu peruwiańskiej dżungli. Fitzgeraldowi nie udał się do tej pory żaden z jego projektów w Ameryce Południowej, jak budowa kolei transandyjskiej czy fabryka lodu. Pragnie wznieść gmach opery, aby muzyka — głos Boga — rozbrzmiewała w dżungli. Żeby zdobyć środki na ten cel, musi podjąć się niezwykle trudnego zadania, przetoczenia statku z koryta jednej rzeki do drugiej. Kinski znakomicie oddał szaleńczą pasję człowieka gotowego na wszystko w imię realizacji marzeń.

Wersja polska do filmu „Fitzcarraldo” Wernera Herzoga została udostępniona dzięki uprzejmości Goethe-Institut.

Werner Herzog (1942)

Jeden z największych twórców nowego kina niemieckiego. Reżyser filmowy, teatralny i operowy, scenarzysta, producent filmowy, aktor, pisarz i poeta pochodzenia chorwackiego. Tworzy filmy fabularne, telewizyjne i dokumentalne. Powracającym wątkiem w jego twórczości są ambitni bohaterowie, dążący do celów niemożliwych do spełnienia. Zaciera granicę pomiędzy filmem fabularnym a dokumentem oraz umieszczają obsadę i ekipę w realiach czy sytuacjach podobnych do postaci w jego filmach. Kładzie duży nacisk na improwizację, nawet kosztem odejścia od scenariusza.

DESCRIPTION

Irish engineer Brian Sweeney Fitzgerald, called Fitzcarraldo by the locals, dreams of building an opera house in the heart of the Peruvian jungle. Fitzgerald has not yet been successful with any of his projects in South America, such as the construction of the Trans-Andean railway or the ice factory. He wants to build an opera house so that music — the voice of God — can resound in the jungle. To raise the funds, he must accomplish the extremely difficult task of rolling a ship from one riverbed to another. Kinski brilliantly captures the raging passion of a man willing to do anything to make his dreams come true.

Werner Herzog (1942)

One of the greatest creators of the new German cinema. Film, theatre and opera director, screenwriter, film producer, actor, writer and poet of Croatian origin. He creates feature films, television films and documentaries. A recurring theme in his work is ambitious heroes striving for impossible goals. He blurs the line between fiction and documentary by placing cast and crew in situations similar to the characters in his films. He places great emphasis on improvisation, even disregarding from the script.
