OPIS

„Alleluja” jest najczęściej wykonywanym przez innych artystów utworem Cohena. Dla wielu z nich jest do dziś dziełem znaczącym, wręcz przełomowym na ich artystycznej, czy też życiowej drodze. Jednak popularność „Alleluja” nie wybuchła od razu, zanim stała się hitem list przebojów była odrzucana przez wytwórnie płytowe. Twórcy filmu przyglądają się nie tylko losom popularnego na całym świecie hymnu, ale i samemu Cohenowi. Kanadyjski bard obdarzony charakterystycznym, niskim, lekko zachrypniętym głosem zmarł w 2016 roku.

Tworzą duet filmowców, zajmując się wspólnie reżyserią i produkcją. Od ponad trzydziestu pięciu lat wspólnie tworzą docenione przez krytyków wielopostaciowe narracje dokumentalne, które splatają indywidualne historie ich bohaterów, tworząc szerszy portret ludzkiego doświadczenia. Poprzedni film Goldfine i Gellera „The Galapagos Affair: Satan Came to Eden” (2013), miał swoją światową premierę na FF w Telluride, a europejską premierę w Berlinie i zachwycił publiczność festiwalową oraz kinową na całym świecie. DESCRIPTION

"Hallelujah" is the song by Cohen, most often performed by other artists. For many of them it is still significant today, even is a milestone in their artistic or life journey. However, the popularity of "Hallelujah" did not explode immediately; it was rejected by record companies before it became a chart hit. The makers of the film not only take a look at the fate of the internationally popular hymn, but also at Cohen himself. The Canadian bard with the characteristic deep, slightly husky voice died in 2016.

They form a filmmaking duo, working together as directors and producers. For more than thirty-five years, they have worked together to create critically acclaimed multi-character documentary narratives that weave together the individual stories of their subjects to create a broader portrait of the human experience. Goldfine and Geller's previous film, ''The Galapagos Affair: Satan Came to Eden'' (2013), had its world premiere at the Telluride FF and its European premiere in Berlin and captivated festival and cinema audiences worldwide. Their latest picture is "Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, a Journey, a Song" (2021).
